Virginia Beach

and now for some highlights from Virginia:
  • We got to see Jenny, Kaylen, Nixon and Noah!
  • The rain had me scared, but it just passed on through.
  • Fun lightning storms at night.
  • We were able to celebrate Jenny's Birthday. {she is SO old} ;) just for you, Jenny.
  • We spent every spare minute at THE BEACH.
  • Lucas got to taste sand. bleck. He LOVED it.

Washington D.C.

Here are some highlights from our trip:
  • Lucas was an ANGEL on the airplane. WHEW.
  • We were able to stay somewhat dry.
  • We racked up a TON of miles on the stroller.
  • We were NOT on the Red Line Metro train when it crashed. {another WHEW}
  • We saw everything we wanted to see and MORE.
  • All tourist attractions we saw were FREE so that was nice.
  • We didn't have to go HOME. We were on to Virginia Beach. {those pics are coming soon}

RAIN

So. Every time we go on vacation, it RAINS. What the heck? We spent the whole time in DC treading our way through the streets and metro system with a wet baby and stroller. We are now in Virginia Beach with what the news forecasters call a light rain. I've got news for you VA. This girl is from Seattle, and that was NOT light rain. I was exposed to it for a total of 4 seconds while heading to the car and I am DRENCHED. (and I squealed the whole way like that was going to help. I'm sure the neighbors liked that.) They say it is "just passing through". I guess I'll find out what they mean by that tomorrow. Wish us SUN!

New Year's Resolution: COMPLETE

12k Sound to Narrows - 2009
Jimmy, Tammy (my sister) and I ran the 12k, James (brother in-law) and my 2 nephews ran the 5k, My niece Chloe ran the "Jr. Shuffle" and Lucas did the "Diaper Dash."

I can speak for Jimmy and I both when I say "WHEW!" We are SO glad that's over. Jimmy really doubted me. He didn't think that I or we could do it. I have been training with my sister, (who is the BEST motivation EVER) but Jimmy has just been way too busy finishing up school to focus on this race. He also gets really bad shin splints. He was really worried going into this. The night before and morning of the race, I made an extra effort to pray for his legs. I really wanted him to complete the race pain free. Well, we taped his shins and completed the race. The first thing he said once he finished was, "these sun glasses aren't for running." His legs didn't bother him AT ALL. I am so proud of him for pushing himself. I knew we were capable - it was just a matter of beating the mental test. I'm not going to lie - It was long and torturous, but we both feel good to have accomplished our goal. Thanks, Tammy for pushing us.

And Lucas - Great Job, buddy! (he didn't move an inch) The horn blew, and all the babies just SAT there. The truth is, he can dash. He just needs an open door to run to. It was pretty cute.

Overall, a successful day!

Dad the "Grad"

Jimmy graduated today with honors and received an Associates in Science Degree. We had an eventful day. Just before we left for the graduation, an acceptance letter came from UW! (we have a decision to make) After graduation, we came home for a big family BBQ.
We are SO proud of you, Jimmy! Keep up the great work.

Happy 4 Year Anniversary!
Some might think, "GOSH, why do people get so personal on BLOGGER?" {I just said that in napoleon dynamite's voice for some reason.}
Because I can. It's my blog. Don't read it if you don't wanna. It's going in our family BOOK. So there.
I thought I'd share a few highlights in brief.
  1. 2005 - giddy/twitterpated {still dating}
  2. June 10th, 2005
  3. Honeymoon in Mexico
  4. 2006 - One year anniversary in Victoria B.C.
  5. 2007 - Two year anniversary in Leavenworth, WA
  6. 2008 - Three year anniversary in Ocean Shores
Each year we try and go on a mini vacay to celebrate our UNdying love. ;) This year we are headed to Washington D.C. after which, we will spend time in Virginia Beach with Jenny and Kaylen. We are SO excited.

Now, a few words for my LOVE:

Thanks for loving me for who I am. Thanks for always being my biggest fan. Your voice is not only the one I hear {loudly} while playing basketball, but it's the one I hear when I make big decisions in life. No matter what, you're always there. Thanks for your support. Thanks for helping me believe in who I am. Thanks for making me laugh. A lot. {Thanks for doing that really high-pitched laugh that in turn, makes me laugh so hard that no noise comes out.} Thanks for teaching me. Thanks for your faith in me, in our goals, in life and most importantly in the gospel. Thanks for loving our son. Thanks for your HUGS. Thanks for going after what you want in life.
Thanks for being my BEST FRIEND.

happy anniversary, jimmy.
to heaven and back. twice.
three squeezes.

by the way. I'm still twitterpated.

DIRT

"trucks and dirt and shades of blue, little boys are angels too"
I can't count the mouth fulls of dirt I've retrieved. Lucas is happiest when he's outside, so I let him run free. We sure are glad this nice weather is here!
