Summer at Random

Lucas went to the zoo a few times this summer. His favorites are the elephants and tigers.

The 4th was kind of different, being on a Sunday. It was nice and quiet though. Lucas was in bed right on time. I bought a total of $12 worth of fireworks. It rained, so we only lit off his turtles. (which completely devastated Lucas.) Who buys someone a toy, then blows it up right in front of him?? He was pretty sad about that.
My nephews are awesome.
We did lots of fun things while family was in town. We took the light rail to Seattle for a day.

Not too sure about the fish throwing stuff.
(another zoo trip)
Check out the crazy Peacock about to eat my son! They are pretty aggressive down there at Point Defiance!

We saw the Blue Angels again.

...and swam and swam
I really hope summer sticks around a while!

Two Years Ago

I started my day at work. My day ended with a snugly baby boy in my arms. Not a bad way to finish things. Finish isn't quite the way to put it. This was only the beginning.

I held that infant, and
I felt like we needed to get to know each other.
I needed to learn what soothed him.
I needed to make sure he ate. and pooped. and slept.
I needed to learn to multi task.
I needed to learn to be awake enough at 1am to smile and reassure him that I was there.
I needed to learn of sacrifice - and have a greater understanding of the Lord's love for us.
I needed to learn to raise a baby.

I am still learning. Each and every day.
This is the best learning experience I have ever had.

I knew I wanted to have a baby.
I wasn't sure I wanted to have a child. Which is what he's turning into!

He is so confident, spunky and tricky.

He loves pulling pranks, hiding and scaring people.

He jumps and lands on his two feet from heights about as tall as he is. (This I do not encourage but am amazed by! He's so brave.)

I love his eagerness to hear my stories. His eyes light up and I watch him learn with each word I say.

I really love his snuggles. He loves to hug on me and kiss me in the grocery store.

I love the way he rolls his eyes at me when I tell him he's silly.

He does great summer salts.
He agrees with everything I say with an "uh hu!" which works out pretty well. :)

I love the way he says Popsicle. "pop-oh-owww"
He cherishes pictures he colors in nursery.

Most of all, I love his giggle.

Happy Birthday to my reason.
I love you, Lucas Maxwell Miller.

August is here...

...and things have slown down in some respects and SPED up in others.
family reunions/trips are pretty much over, but work is really changing gears for me and now I'm in the fast lane.
It leaves me grateful but wanting more on my plate for some crazy reason!
Things are taking off with photography and EVERYONE needs back to school do's - so I'm multi-tasking to the max.
No matter what goes on, Lucas needs my undivided attention, so that makes the multi-tasking a bit difficult.
I love him nonetheless and it does feel good to be wanted. Someday he might not want me anymore. So, I take the snuggles, the train track building, tractor-watching and CONSTANT call for "Mom!" with pleasure. He reminds me to find amazement in the small things. Today, we watched bees and spiders for a good 30 minutes.

I can't help but feel like there's more to give. I'm crazy. So, I continue pounding the pavement.

On a side note, my wrinkly, swaddled, sweet baby boy will be 2 on the 25th. Wow.
I won't mention my birthday or Jimmy's birthday - because I wish we could just stay this age.
{minus the school.}

As for now, I'm going to remain busy, and enjoy every blazing sun break we get here in Seattle.
Happy Summer.
