Jimmy

This Month has been HUGE for Jimmy.

We celebrated Father's Day today.
Jimmy got his personal best time in the Sound to Narrows 12k.
We celebrated our (7 Year) Anniversary with family at the Great Wolf Lodge.
Most importantly, he Graduated from UW!

I am so proud of him and his hard work this past few years at UW. I can't wait to see the difference he makes in the world. Whatever line of work he ends up in, I'm sure he'll soar.

Love you Jimmy!

School's cool.

So when I married this man, I thought I pretty well knew the path we were headed on and could see our future. We have in NO way at all stayed the course that I thought we would. Which is wonderful. I am SO proud of Jimmy for going back to school and following his heart.
He is now applying to dental school for fall 2012.
Exciting. Scary. Expensive.

Schools wanted a head shot of him. So one night I cut his hair, he got "suited up" (from waist up) and we had a hilarious photo shoot.
It doesn't take much for him to get me laughing. I was in tears watching him pose.

I also was combating a needy baby at bed time. For whatever reason Boden wasn't staying asleep, so I was behind the camera with him in my arms.

camera in one hand + fussy boden in the other + uncontrollable laughter = urgency to pee

That said, I threw down the camera, laid Bo on the floor and headed to the bathroom.

Came back to this:
 no more fussy baby.
I guess we know how to wear him out next time he won't settle down.

Please pray for Jimmy's acceptance to Dental school. ANY dental school.
Thank you. :)
Best of luck to my deserving Jimmy.

Murder Mystery Dinner

We have the coolest friends in our ward that put on a Murder Mystery party. It was a blast!
Thanks, Alanna and Tyler for a fun night out!
My character was "Baroness Ravioli" and Jim was "Capo "Toto" Tequila".
I racked my brain trying to figure out how to find a maternity flapper dress! I never did find what I wanted, but Good Will never fails and I ended up getting best costume. :)
My favorite part of the night was getting to wear RED LIPSTICK.
(and then worrying that it was on my teeth all night)

 I see dead people...
still in character
Lucas got to hang out with his Uncle Jeramy that night - and still talks about how much fun he had.
Jeramy took him to 2 parks, tilt (first arcade experience), and McDonalds. What an awesome Uncle!
I think he was fine with us being gone.

Happiness

Last week after Lucas and I went to my check-up, I took Lucas to see Daddy's Eagle Project that sits outside the hospital. He completed it when he was 16. Lucas mentions it every time we drive in or out of my appointments. "there's Daddy's benches!!" Finally we got to sit on them.
(The cowboy hat was a battle I chose not to have this particular morning. We made it to my 8am appointment and that's what matters. :)

I'm so proud of Jimmy for his scouting success and hope Lucas wants to follow in his Daddy's footsteps. :)
While completing an Eagle project I'm sure brings happiness, the happiness I wanted to mention in this post can be found at...
HAPPY DONUTS!
Which is EXACTLY where Lucas and I went next.
Every time I go there I make sure and let them know that they ARE the best doughnut shop around... after which, I stuff my face with my favorite sugar-coated doughnut.

This Father

This Father wrestles. This Father pretends.
 This Father teaches and leads.
 He fulfills promises. He sacrifices.
 He wipes tears and encourages.
He goes on slurpee trips past bed time.
Most of all...
 This Father LOVES.
Thanks, Daddy for all you do.
Happy Father's Day.

Life out on the FARM.

Lucas was able to experience a day on the farm. Jim's friend from school grew up on a farm and she was nice enough to have us over to meet their animals. Lucas learned a few things, in fact.
That these horses need love and attention,
if they don't receive enough attention, they can - and WILL give you the stink eye.

They also need food. They don't particularly like being almost fed and waiting for an airplane to pass before the farmer can focus enough to get the carrot into the horses mouth.
The dogs also need treats.
On top of everything, the Daddy always needs to be walked.
 After a long day's work. :)
Thanks SO much, Danielle for letting us come explore the farm!

Thanks, Jim.

...for making this last 5 years the most stressful, crazy, happy, eventful, joyous, exciting, spontaneous, wonderful,
most worth it years of my life. :)

Every year we've traveled somewhere to celebrate. Even if it's just a short trip.
This year will be spent taking finals.
That's all right though. That just means he gets a few days off before summer quarter begins.
Who knows - maybe we'll do something spontaneous. :)

Thanks for all you do for us!
Happy Anniversary.
Love You.
{random old dating photos - I know. I was SO cool.}

Papa, Daddy and Groobs

This little man loves mowing the lawn. It scares me to DEATH. I just know he's going to lose a limb, but it's important to him to always be helping with whatever is going on.
Watching Papa and Daddy work:
He was such a great helper UNTIL he realized the shorts he was wearing had pockets! Hello? WAY more fun.

"Groobs" Origination

It's funny how nicknames get started. It's not like we sat down and thought... we should call him "groobs".
I'm sure I'm not the only one who babbled all these cutesy names at my perfect little newborn when he first came home. Through the babbling mommy voice, out stumbled "mister magoo". After time, (and after Daddy got a hold of it) it evolved into "MacGruber" You might know him from SNL.
It didn't take long before this name said in the same tune as the theme song became annoying and it quickly changed to "groober-doober -or- groober-doobs". Also variations coming from Daddy.

Now, you can see that "groobs" just kind of rolls off the tongue.
Lucas responds to it, but let's just hope that in grade school he doesn't prefer to be called that. :)

I'm sure by then, he'll hate it.

Love you, "groobs!"
