This kid has started hiding everywhere. He has learned to be quiet and wait to be found. The other day I couldn't find him. It lasted much too long for comfort. I began running from room to room in a panic. I checked under beds, tables, even the shower. Nothing. I finally went on a whim and looked in his bedroom closet. He shut himself in there and when I opened it, he came rolling out. He laughed and laughed. I, on the other hand was not laughing. That little hooligan. Here he is hiding:

Merry Christmas

This year, we did as much Christmas celebrating as we could. We went down town to see the city lights and Santa Claus, we enjoyed a Live Nativity, "The Messiah", a wonderful ward Christmas program, Christmas Eve gift exchange and of course Christmas Day with all our family.
Like last year, I'll share some Highlights and not so highlights:
- Lucas only managed to break 3 ornaments this season. (I expected more)
- After establishing firm gift buying rules, Jimmy broke them and bought me a new lens for my camera.
- White Elephant gift exchange was a success as always. Jimmy scored a nice Buddha statue which he left to accompany baby Jesus in my sister's nativity display. It looked great.
- Amidst the crowds of family, Lucas still enjoyed a nice long nap on Christmas Day.
- I'm still full.
- After opening each gift, Lucas carefully studied it to see how it worked. He opened the back of stuffed animals to see where the sound came from and turned cars over to check their wheels.
- Lucas' grumpy face carries on strong. I would just like to know how to get him not to do it when opening gifts? He can seem pretty rude, though I don't think he knows it!
- Santa stopped by on Christmas Eve just to check in. My nephew, Ethan replied that he had just been "ok" when asked if he'd been a good boy. The ironic part is he truly is an angel. What a humble kid.
- Lucas enjoys books with Santa, our dancing Santa and saying "ho ho ho", but hates the "real" Santa.
- We carried on the tradition of Oh so cute matching p.j.'s with not so cute bed head and eye boogers.
- We were able to visit, laugh with and create new memories with our nearby family. The spirit of Christmas still lingers. I hope it does all year.

We were in a car accident on the way to the fair in down town Puyallup. To make a long story short, the lady that hit us admitted to being in a hurry and said she was late to work. She went on to tell us her life story and how she's going through this nasty divorce... blah blah blah.
Jimmy called the cops, and when they got there, the story completely changed. She went on to say that we made a U-Turn, and cut in front of her. Nice.
The cop said he's not here to do a murder investigation, but someone needs to get a ticket. He ends up believing her, we got the ticket, she drives off in her fancy-pants SUV and continues on with her day.
We fought it on Monday.
Jimmy rocked. The judge rocked. Lucas gave him cute baby faces to help win his heart.
We Won.
That's not the best part.
Jimmy called his Mom shortly after to tell her the news, but in typical Jimmy fashion, he lied to get a rise out of her.
Jimmy: We fought the accident ticket today.
Mom: How'd you do, son?
Jimmy: They're holding me in contempt.
Mom: How much?
Jimmy: $15 grand
Mom: I guess I'll have to sell the farm.
I can't believe she believed him!
I guess it's good to know she's got his back.
When something's not going well, our new saying is,
"I guess I'll have to sell the farm."
We love you, Faye.
...and Jimmy's sorry he pulled your leg. (not really)

Last night, while lying in bed, Jimmy and I had our usual nightly recap. He went on to talk about the things he had to do in the morning.
"... I've gotta pick up your gift."
*long pause*
My thoughts are changed to what wonderful treasures he might have found for me.
"...at the Dress Barn."
Then, he laughed and laughed. He laughed so hard no sound came out, and when it did, it was so high pitched that it nearly woke up Lucas.
I guess I don't have a problem with that store, the name just makes me think of Cows.
(which I already feel like most days, so I don't need a store front sign to remind me.)
Thanks, Jimmy. I look forward to seeing my dress. I hope you enjoyed the laugh.

Chocolate covered pretzels. My favorite. I have made them before with a complicated recipe and decided to go the easy microwavable route. I did one batch. I undoubtedly decided we needed more. I threw the same cup I was using right back in the microwave to melt some more gooey goodness. Jimmy came in and asked why on earth the microwave was engulfed with smoke. Well folks, I used a METAL cup. Apparently the first time I did it, the microwave was giving me another chance to figure it out. I didn't. There was smoke every where.
I turned all fans on and opened every door. Two of which Lucas ALMOST successfully escaped through. Once I regrouped, I threw in some more EASY melt chocolate into the microwave. This time, using a safer plastic bowl. You'll never guess what happened. SMOKE. The bowl has a complete hole melted through the bottom. What are the chances?
Eventually, I did complete my second batch. I was not about to let those blankity-blank chocolate covered pretzels defeat me. Afterward, I saw them in the store. There was a huge bag of them for $3. So tempting.

Let the holiday baking begin. I really LOVE baking. Especially during the holidays. I blast the Christmas music, turn on all the decorative lights, take off that wedding ring and get to work. I was in the mood and ready to go yesterday. I deep cleaned the kitchen and cleared some counter space. It was bake time. Unexpectedly, the home teacher pulled up. One thing lead to another, he stayed for an hour and a half, {that should not be allowed} when he left, it was time to make dinner and I was almost late to my basketball game. No baking.
Today, I had a few clients, RE-cleaned the kitchen, got my game face on and turned over my shoulder to find Lucas right on my tail. He wanted to help. (which I expected, but deep down hoped he would miraculously entertain himself) Up on the counter he went, right in the mix of it all. Literally. Lucky for me, he's a little bit of a clean freak. He immediately grabbed the goop in the mixer, pausing to realize that his hands were dirty. If I could paint the picture in words of his facial expression, I would. He does it often and it's a disgust as if the world is coming to an end. I've gotta catch it on camera. So, I handed him a towel to clean his hands off with. Once his hands were clean, he began taking the towel to the inside of the mixing bowl to clean up the bigger mess. :) He eventually discovered that what I was doing was messy and no fun so he scaled the counter tops. He did this for at least 2 hours. Getting into random cupboards, pouring out salt and pepper shakers and repeatedly turning on and off the sink.
Between baking and keeping him from sticking his fingers down the toaster, not much was accomplished. I think he enjoyed himself, but boy did I have a mess to clean up when we were done. I'm not sure what took more time, the baking, or all the cleaning that took place before and after. I'm still not done baking. Wish me luck!

I meant to post one thing that was really making me sappy and grateful.
Besides my Fabulous Husband and Super Cool Son,
I am thankful for Scripture study and the IMMEDIATE blessings that come when we do what is asked. Jimmy and I read together each night and it's the best time of the day.
Here's Lucas and Brennen waiting for Turkey dinner to be served:

This was my first movie premiere ever. I thought I might see some crazy vampires. No such luck.
