My first car EVER. {that wasn't handed down} The best part? I can change a diaper in the backseat AND I can fit more in my trunk than JUST a stroller. Buying a car was a huge deal for me. I was sick to my stomach in the dealership. The salesman even said, "do you need to throw up?" Big purchases scare me. I can't make decisions. Not even when we go out to eat. It takes FOR-EV-ER for me to decide what I want. So, how many "green points" do I get? Does this make up for me buying bottled water by the case and using aerosol hairspray?
Today, I found him in the toilet. I know. Gross. Even though it keeps me on my toes, I'm so glad to see him get around. He is so proud of himself when he finds something new. It's really sweet to watch his expressions and see him learn.
Unstoppable. Lucas has learned to climb stairs. He also makes a dash to the door and down the step whenever the back door is open. He loves to explore!
I have been not feeling the best these last 2 days and being the TROOPER that I am, I whined and complained to Jimmy. ;)
Jimmy: (busily getting ready for school and ignoring me) Take 2 of me and call me in the morning. Me: I'll just take the new Jimmy. He would listen to me, hug me, comfort me and make me better. Jimmy: No. He'd be golfing and hanging out with me.
I'm sure he would. That's the best I get around here.
Jimmy has always been a hard worker. When we were first married, he considered going back to school to gain a college degree that he had once started. During this time, he was sought out 3 different times from companies that saw potential in him and thought he would be a great asset to their businesses. One time in particular, he was managing a cell phone repair store and was recruited to come work in the sales industry for another company. He did. They convinced him that going to school would be a much lengthier process to a hearty income. (as many sales companies do) We agreed that this line of work was profitable and Jimmy was off to a great start. He saw the needs of his clients, and genuinely cared about them. The thought of going back to school never left him but he stayed focused and dedicated to his new career. He got along great with the two managers directly above him. They even did a lot together outside the office. He held a great respect for them.
One day, Jimmy was at work talking with some managers of his. They were joking around about something, when the manager of the Franchise said to Jim, “What do you know? You don’t even have a college degree.” This coming from the same man that preached to Jimmy about not needing that college degree. It was unfortunate for them that the comment was made. This sparked Jimmy’s interest in going back to school once again.
When he made the decision to quit and enroll in school, he told his boss he wanted to meet with him for lunch. They met at an oriental restaurant. He told his boss that he needed to quit because he had a desire to do something in the medical field and that required him to go back to school. They talked it out over lunch and seemed to have made good terms despite Jim quitting. Once lunch was over, the server brought out fortune cookies. These were the EXACT words of Jimmy’s fortune:
“You will find success in the medical field.”
There are few times in life when you get a firm confirmation that what you’ve decided is right. If this isn’t one, I don’t know what is. It came in a silly fortune cookie, but it sure excited us.
Jimmy decided to retake all his previous college credits and start with a clean slate. Going back to school was the best decision he’s ever made. {in my opinion} He is the best student and has such a desire to learn. Jimmy is currently on the path to becoming an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. Just 10 years to go. {sigh} It’s ok. They say that the college years are the best. We just get more of them! :) He’s graduating from Highline with honors in June, and then we will be headed to a 4 year University for 2 more years. We haven’t decided which one yet. I wish that answer would come in a fortune cookie!
I want Jimmy to know how much he inspires me and just how proud of him I am. I’m so glad Lucas has him for an example and hope that one day he too can have the same desire to learn. Thanks for all you do, Jimmy and congrats on getting your associates degree! Keep up the great work.We’re init for the long haul! We LOVE you!
Lucas loves his "car" just like Daddy loves his. He knows how to turn it on, get on and off it, load it with toys and dances with the music. Most importantly, he knows how to go fast. He sure cruises and will walk with it when we open it into a walker.
Lucas has decided that there's better things to do in cribs than sleep. He laughs every time I come in and lay him back down. It's turned into a game that's fun for only one of us...
Jimmy and Lucas treated me royally. The only problem is, next year they're going to have to out-do this year, and so on... The best part about it was that Jimmy took Lucas shopping with him. During that time, I did NOTHING. {bliss}
A special Thank You to my Mom and Mother-in-law who are the BEST. Thanks for ALL you sacrifice for me. I love you and hope to be just like you both.
POST game. {the W is for WIN} we're not that gangster.
Who's yo momma?!?
We picked up the big win today. We played a Bellevue team and it was close. It's a bit silly to get so hyped up about church ball. {I nervous peed like thrice before game time} It's a big deal though. I was raised that way. It's in my blood. :) It's nice to have Womens leagues to play on. I'm so grateful to have any chance to play. It was even nicer to show up and remind them who is #1. That's right. Federal Way. woot woot! {It was nicer-er to not be pregnant like 2 of us were at last year's tournament!}
Oh, and I threw in Paaga who was sad she couldn't come. She's throwin' up the big "W" too. We missed you, girlie! We were missing 2 key players, but we pulled through. It was an intense game! Glad we won. Great game ladies!
