A picture taking kind of day.

We had quite the day earlier this week.
The night prior, I cut Jimmy's hair. As luck would have it, the clippers died. This actually ALWAYS happens when I cut his hair. He usually complains and I end up charging the clippers. I know better than to leave them out charging, as Lucas is intrigued with anything that plugs in and even more intrigued by the things he can't have.

8am
I hear the sound of buzzing coming from the dining room.

I came in to this:
and this:
10am
I wasn't quick enough to give him his morning snack.
So he found his own.

3pm
After nap, Lucas decided that he needed to do his puzzles.
He climbed out of his crib, onto his dresser and quietly did several puzzles.

These things used to happen to other people and I would think,
"Sheesh people. WATCH YOUR KIDS."

So. Either I was super judgmental back then, or I'm a worse Mother than I thought.

...still haven't fixed his haircut. The patch is growing on me.

OY.

Elvira

This might look like a big pot of dirt to you.
...but to our family, this is Miss Elvira.
I purchased her the year Jim and I got married along with some other beautiful plants. They all died. INCLUDING Elvira. I have NO idea how to take care of plants aside from giving them names. Nor do I know what on earth kind of plant she is.
She came back. Every year she does. Each year, she is larger and more beautiful than before.
(If only we all got more and more beautiful with time.)

I'll have to show you a picture at her best. Give her a few months. She'll be here.

"Groobs" Origination

It's funny how nicknames get started. It's not like we sat down and thought... we should call him "groobs".
I'm sure I'm not the only one who babbled all these cutesy names at my perfect little newborn when he first came home. Through the babbling mommy voice, out stumbled "mister magoo". After time, (and after Daddy got a hold of it) it evolved into "MacGruber" You might know him from SNL.
It didn't take long before this name said in the same tune as the theme song became annoying and it quickly changed to "groober-doober -or- groober-doobs". Also variations coming from Daddy.

Now, you can see that "groobs" just kind of rolls off the tongue.
Lucas responds to it, but let's just hope that in grade school he doesn't prefer to be called that. :)

I'm sure by then, he'll hate it.

Love you, "groobs!"
