Vancouver BC

Jimmy had the itch to get out of town over spring break. So, we headed to Vancouver. We learned a few things on this trip:
  1. Never trust the photos when booking hotels online. Our hotel was nothing close to the online photos.
  2. You can't listen to a receptionist that has answers like, "absolutely, i'm not really sure, of course, not really, you'll love it" ALL in one sentance.
  3. When traveling to Vancouver, you MUST go to the aquarium.
Our trip was quite eventful. Lucas loved every minute of it. Despite how we felt, he even loved the hotel. When we got home, he woke up in the middle of the night and said, "go to hotel!!" um. no thanks.

Action Packed Saturday

We started off at Seattle Children's Hospital "Health Fair". We heard they were giving away helmets and Lucas just happens to have an obsession with them (and all things hat related). I have been shopping for one and had no idea they were $20 or more! So, we scored! They gave them to Jimmy and I too! They had lots of fun activities, including an "operating room" where kids got to play doctor on little stuffed patients. Lucas named his Max. They also sold discounted booster seats and car seats. Lucas even got to sit in an ambulance.

Our next stop was Woodland Park Zoo where Jimmy needed to meet with classmates to work on a final. We excitedly tagged along. It was a bit rainy, but we had fun. Our favorite part was the gorillas. Hands down.
If I were a gorilla, this is EXACTLY what I'd be doing.
...and then there was the regurgitating Gorilla. Apparently she just does this all day for fun. Nobody knows what her food started out as... because she just kept eating and throwing up the same food. She did it at least 5 times when we were there. SO gross.
They gave Orangutans chalk to color with. This one didn't want to color though. He handed the zookeeper back the chalk and asked her to paint his nails with it. :)
We had SUCH a fun, jam-packed day!

Love this kid.

Some of my favorites:

"Mom, I'm afraid I pooped."

When pulling up Dad's shirt, "cut that belly beard!" (chest hair)

"believe that, mom?" (can you believe that?!)

"oh my doodness"

"that's pretty tool." (cool)

"names groobs miller" into the microphone.

When's your birthday? "August twenty-five." How old are you? "two half."

"mom, go in kitchen please." (just so that he can smother his cousin Sadie with kisses, change her diaper and attempt to pick her up without me in the room.)

When trying a cereal he'd never had before, "I'm likin' this!"

When I ask for him to do something (on a good day) he'll say "course, mom!"

When he gets sad or hurt he'll say "howd me" in the most pathetic voice - but when he sees that someone is watching, he says "don't watch!" or "don't look at me!" and snuggles deeper into his momma. :)

I think I showed him a tad too much when reading the scriptures. Now, he'll pretend to die and say "I a Lamanite," or "I a Nephite!" yikes. The scriptures are totally rated-R.

and the most sweet little sentance: "teach me."
I love hearing him ask to be taught. That's exactly what my job is. I hope he does get taught. More importantly, the right things.

we can't get enough of SADIE!

Lucas and I watch my sweet 3 month old niece 3 days a week. We LOVE it! When she's not here, Lucas begs for her. When she's napping, he begs for her. When she's ON HIS LAP, he begs for her!
We are SO happy to have you play with us, Sadie! We love you TONS!

Toolman

Lucas intently working with his tools.
He stopped halfway through the job to find his "protect eye goggles!"
(which also happen to be part of his "super why" character, swimming goggles and snow goggles.)

I love this.

Because we had so much fun "heart attacking" on Valentine's Day, I thought I would share this fun idea with all of you.
